A wealth of hard to find information.

Having chatted with Cliff previously via email, I was happily surprised that he had finally put his wisdom to paper. While it's clear when reading this book that he is a Pontiac fan, he does a good job on the Chevy, Buick, and Oldsmobile Quadrajets also.

In this book you'll find practical rebuilding, repairing, and performance tips. I really like the fact that he covers the repairs that often have to be made to the venerable Quadrajet, now that the one that is on our vehicles is probably well over 30 years old! If you are wondering how to repair that stripped fuel inlet thread, or how to modify your idle air bypass, you will find that information in this book. Not only does this book do a fantastic job covering repairs and performance modifications in depth, the photo's are large, detailed, and relevant.

Discussion of operation of the various circuits is included. The various models and improvements over the years is explained. With this info you will be well prepared to select the right Q-jet for your vehicle.

This work on Rochester carbs is important because the Rochesters, especially the Quadrajet, are vastly underated. There is a very good chance that you could run a Quadrajet on your vehicle and gain fuel efficiency without sacrificing power. In this day and age, that is no small consideration. On a 327 Chevy I've run three Quadrajets (7045263, 7043250, and 7029207) against an out of the box fresh Holley 6619. The best Quadrajet, which happened to be new also, beat the Holley on an identical course by about two miles per gallon with no perceived loss of performance! One of the other Qj's was new also, the other one was rebuilt to stock specs on the primary side, and richened up on the secondary side. The bottom line is that out of the three Quadrajets tested on my vehicle, three of them beat the Holley in the mpg category. Of course, your results may differ, but my point is that you should not overlook the Quadrajet when planning your next street engine build. My motivation to run the Quadrajet came largely from Doug Roe's book, however, there are a lot of points in this work that do not appear in the book by Doug Roe. If you do a search you can find further results from my "test" online. Just type in the carburetor numbers and Holley.

Even if you already have Doug Roe's book on Quadrajets, you'll want this one too. Besides the wealth of photographs, and up to date information, you'll notice that he even covers the Edelbrock Quadrajets as well. Lot's of information for the money.

Excellent help and information

Having run and enjoyed Q-jets for many years I bought this book immediately. Even if you have the Rochester book by Doug Roe, this is a needed addition. True hands on experience shows and Ruggles is able to convey some complex procedures with success. From a simple rebuild to advanced tuning you'll find plenty of help. Pictures are good and clear, but the captions are another story. Here's where I dropped one star in my review. You can figure out the intent with a little study but it seems the publisher rushed the set-up and printing. For instance, the 'left' carburetor is sometimes the 'right' one. Picky perhaps but it is sometimes confusing. All in all a good book.

Book is great, but there is more

The book is great. Very detailed and loaded with great information. My only problem is that I contacted a vendor that is mentioned in the book concerning rebuild kits. The Carburetor Shop in Eldon, MO is mentioned as " a great provider of quality rebuild kits." I contacted them concerning a kit for the carburetor I am rebuilding. Horrible, I mean HORRIBLE customer service. Do not, once again DO NOT purchase anything from that company. I will keep their emails for reference for anyone who does not believe me. Sorry to stray from the book review. The book is great and I would recommend it to anyone, but buy your parts somewhere else.

I liked the fact that every group member mentioned is named, and that each group session whether drawing, writing, reminiscing, creating collages, movement or music, allowed for the participants' self-reflection and mutual support... Without needing to be an art or music expert, I could dip in and out of this book as people to perceive themselves as images of God, to creatively and thus living their lives towards their promised fullness. There is such a dearth of practical, older-people led resources, I constantly have to adapt from resources for younger people, for my own ministry, so I am encouraged and rather pleased by the author's counter cultural generations and disciplines. A priceless resource

I was familiar with Susan's earlier works and was enthused to see her author a book geared toward older adults (though the suggested activities may be modified for other populations. The book is loaded with creative ideas to engage clients in a variety of purposeful, therapeutic activities. While I have a collection of books that address this expanding need in treatment, Susan's book will undoubtedly be the one I most often reference.

This book has exceeded my expectations. The assignments are simple and require very little expense in the way of materials needed. I have done some art therapy in the past but this expands my resources for more simple ways to help people express their thoughts and feelings. Every therapist needs this book to help adults of all ages whether you are familiar with art therapy or not.

Of all the ancient practices that have been revived by the growth of alternative healing, reflexology is one of the most popular�and is especially well-suited to self-treatment, the treatment of a partner, or the treatment of children.�The Reflexology Atlas is a fully illustrated and comprehensive�reference guide, the first�to provide an overview of, and instructions for, each�the many forms of reflexology--foot reflexology, hand reflexology, ear reflexology, head reflexology, and the total massage known as shiatsu.

In the reflexology system it is possible to stimulate a distant organ or body part by massaging a corresponding "reflex zone" on the hand, foot, ear, face, or scalp. By examining the location of the reflex zones, one can visualize a projection of the entire human body superimposed over each of these massage locations. On the foot, for example, the big toe represents the head; the area at the base of the toes corresponds to the neck and shoulder girdle; the digestive organs can be massaged in the middle of the foot; the curves of ball, arch, and heel on the side of the foot mirror the curves of the spine; and the pelvic organs find correspondence just below the anklebone. Because the placement of the reflex zones makes intuitive sense, reflexology is easy to learn and can be applied anywhere.

The best reflexology textbook ever

What a fabulous find! The textbook is extremely well written, the format is much bigger then regular book size; pictures are colorful and tables are very easy to use. I am very interested in reflexology, have been studying it for a while and had reflexology sessions with a professional for years. I have never seen a reflexology textbook which would be better then this one. And the price is quite amazing. Get this book, you will not regret it. It also can make a great gift.

Great Techniques!

This is a great book filled with pictures of the techniques you can use for massage. It's very helpful. The only thing is that it can be difficult for some people to understand (like my husband). I do wish they had more techniques for the legs. It seemed to lack a bit in that area. I tried the techniques out on my husband and he loved the massage. Definitely great if you are just starting out or don't plan on being a professional at it.

Large full colored pictures show good detail, though the written explanations could go more in depth. I feel this has a very Western view of Reflexology, which makes it easy to understand--however, I think this may do a disservice to the roots of Reflexology.

About the Author
