A fantastic read!!

Yellow Tale leaves you at the edge of your seat! I could not put this book down until I was finished. Tiffany's story is full of comedy, sadness, but most of all, hope. I highly recommend this book.

I should be giving this a book a FOUR because having known Tiffany for a year or two in her early/mid-twenties I don't think that I can be a 100% totally unbiased reviewer. I remember Tiffany as being smart, collected and funny.

But i am giving it a 5 because this book describes perfectly how smart, collected, funny and cunning addicts are and to the levels of deception their needs will take them. Tiffany doesn't sugar coat it and it's hard to believe that this is non-fiction. This is a brutal book with well placed elements of comic relief and written in a soft voice that, after a couple of pages, ensured that I'd forgotten that I knew the author and that I was just concerned about the protagonist.

This is how you write a memoir

Having just finished "My Last Rock Bottom" by Sara Berelsman, I saw this book which looked similar and gave it a try and WOW, I am so glad I did. Ms. Goik was probably sicker than most of the young people I have seen featured on shows like "Intervention" or have read about in other "addiction" memoirs. She was suffering from not only alcoholism, but drug abuse, an eating disorder, and other life problems that young women who don't suffer from any substance addictions can still relate to. I like how another reviewer noted that the author was in a "dark hole" because that is so apt. I finished this in two days and I was so happy to read about her triumphs and her new health. She also ends the book with a new take on alcoholism, and while she does seem to endorse 12 step programs, she certainly puts forth some interesting theories on alcoholism as a more of a set of syndromes, not easily defined as necessarily an addiction or a disease. Absolutely recommended!!!

About the Author
John C. Cavanaugh is President and CEO of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and his Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame. Cavanaugh is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the Gerontological Society of America, and has served as president of the Adult Development and Aging Division (Division 20) of the APA. Cavanaugh has also written (with the late Fredda Blanchard-Fields) ADULT DEVELOPMENT AND AGING. His research interests in gerontology concern family caregiving as well as the role of beliefs in older adults' cognitive performance.

Professor Whitbourne received her Ph. D. from Columbia University and has dual specializations in life-span developmental psychology and clinical psychology. She has taught at the State University of New York at Geneseo and the University of Rochester. At the University of Massachusetts, she received the University's Distinguished Teaching Award and the College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Teacher Award. In 2002, she received the Florence Denmark/Psi Chi National Faculty Advisor Award and in 2003, the APA Division 20 (Adult Development and Aging) Master Mentor Award . She is the Honors Coordinator in the Psychology Department and the Director of the Office of National Scholarship Advisement in the newly established Commonwealth Honors College. The author of fourteen books and over one hundred journal articles and book chapters, Professor Whitbourne is regarded as an expert in the field of personality development in adulthood and old age. She is currently the APA Council Representative of Division 20 of APA having also served as Division 20 President. Professor Whitbourne has developed nationally recognized approaches to technological innovations in teaching, and the web site she developed for her introductory psychology course was selected as a McGraw-Hill Web Cafe "Site of the Month."

About the Author
George Trombley is a professional Japanese interpreter who over the past 16 years has interpreted for corporations such as Microsoft, IBM, NTT DoCoMo, Lucent Technologies, and in countries throughout North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. In addition to Japanese, George has also co-authored the Korean From Zero! series and consulted on Chinese, French, and Spanish language books. Yukari Takenaka moved from Himeji, Japan to the United States, and taught Japanese for over 10 years while co-authoring custom lessons for students that eventually became the basis of the Japanese From Zero! book series. Prior to becoming an author, Yukari worked in Japan as a professional in the medical industry. She continues to write Japanese related materials to support her passion for teaching Japanese.

Bad printing quality

The printing quality is really bad, good book but it was a huge disappointment the printing quality, it is hard to keep going on through the book because of it......,

----I forgot to update this, I got refunded and actually by the time I finished these books I could easily make friends with people in Japan through chatting and talking thanks to the concepts that were taught so I don't wanna be too harsh with the printing issue that happened.

Good stuff!

If you've done Japanese From Zero! 1 and 2 and you liked them, then by all means buy this book! I'm just finishing it up now and it was just as good as the others.

This year I studied using a flashcard site called Smart.fm (I made cards for all 13 chapters in this book, search for them if you're interested) and it was really helpful.

Learning hiragana and katakana was really easy with the last two books, but kanji's a bit trickier, because each character doesn't come up as often in the practice exercises as kana. So you'll need to work extra hard to memorize how to write them!
