This book is excellent. My wife bought me this book as part of the super deal with the "Lost Art of Steam Heating" and "A pocketful of Steam Problems (with Solutions). These books have been invaluable to me as a homeowner and have given me the confidence and knowledge to tackle a lot of our steam problems ourselves. I encourage anyone with a steam heating system to read these books before contacting your local contractor. It will provide you with the right information to make the right decisions and avoid throwing money at a situation that may have an easy solution (i.e. venting, insulation etc). We no longer have cold rooms in our house and our daughters are no longer suffer in cold bedrooms; what a difference to last season. Great Book

If you have steam heat - read this book. You'll come to realize how little the guys that come in to do your annual or semi-annual service know about steam heat. I would say that the service guy will still know more about the boiler itself(+/-) but you'll know way more about the system than they will. And if you don't know the system, you can't fix the problems.

This is a must have for people with steam heating. As a homeowner and someone new to heating systems, I've found that most professional heating people I've spoken to don't have the understanding required to work on these systems, but that doesn't stop them from confidently proclaiming what your problem & solution is. This book will likely save you a lot of money in wasted energy, and will equip you with more knowledge than professionals and therefore figure out how to be selective about who works on your system. Then, you can go to the site they seem to congregate at "Heating Help" and ask questions - has worked well for me.

Great Book very informative

The most comprehensive book on home steam heating systems I have come across.
I can now properly update and maintain my one pipe steam system.
Also a good reference on available parts and radiators.
