Great for an NA, not so much for the NB and NC

I already had this book in a previous iteration for just the NA (90-97) Miata. For that car it's fantastic. I purchased the latest because it's updated through the third-generation Miata (NC), and I just bought a 2006. Sadly, while the information for the NC is mildly useful, all the pictures are of an NA, there's a lot of basics missing, and worst of all--no wiring diagrams. On the other hand, it does have all the torque specs. I haven't owned an NB, so I can't say how useful it is for that.
With the wealth of information available online, I'm not sure how I feel about my purchase. It wasn't what I was hoping for.What Haynes really needs to do is separate the NA/NB, and NC info within the chapters, and/or add some new photos.
Sorry to be ambivalent, but that's how I am with it.

Ordered both the Haynes and Chilton, then went all Godfather and kept the Chilton and returned the Haynes

While Haynes repair books used to be considered the "standard" by mechanically inclined enthusiasts, this example has been removed from that lofty perch and I would recommend the Chilton manual for a couple of very simple and critical reasons; the quality of the paper used is slightly better in the Chilton version which gives the user clearer type (easier to read) and the also provides clearer and crisper photos. The Chilton and Haynes manuals are IDENTICAL for all intents, even the same photos and illustrations are used throughout (I checked page by page and chapter by chapter, which wasn't hard since the books are not that big). The only noticeable difference between the Chilton and Haynes manuals is that the layout is slightly altered as a result of the torque recommendations being located at the front of the Haynes chapters versus the rear of each chapter in the Chilton. In the end, the better paper which was easier to read and clearer photos won out and I returned the Haynes manual since I had ordered both to compare. Neither manual was as comprehensive as they used to be, the step by step procedural methodology has been replaced by a general photo and at most a couple of paragraphs (except for the complete engine rebuild which the factory shop manual would be far better suited); at worst no photograph and a few lines of obvious instruction (in the case of the removal and installation of the convertible top the explanation is a very general overview, more akin to the account of creation in Genesis) instead of more detailed step by step instructions with photos for what is much more likely to be attempted by far more buyers of such a manual. I also own the Keith Tanner books which are more of what I was hoping for and expecting and are far better than either the Chilton or Haynes books.

Manual needs editing

I was disappointed in the accuracy and amount of information especially for 2006 and newer vehicles. It was as if Haynes spent all their time creating a manual for the older cars and just added info on the newer cars as an afterthought. I could not find basic information such as differential capacity and the oil change interval is different from the recommendation in the owner's manual. This experience taught me to not buy a technical manual without first seeing a copy.
