Lovely book about a fascinating personality

It is always amazing to get to know a real personality in full; Salome is one of these.
Not a "collector of great men" for the sake of showing off, but a mighty influence in her own light, they were drawn to her as an equal in power of thoughts and feelings.
Salome inspired as much as she was inspiring; a reflected partner in conversations spanning over decades with some of the most deep-thinking men of her time. This book gives an outstanding overview of the whole era of early modernism and is at the same time written in an engaging way: I find myself stopping over and over to say "oh! I was not aware of that" - then doing some Wiki reading or browsing my bookshelves I am directed towards reading more and understand deeper connections I was not aware existed: and what more can you ask of a book than doing just that, inviting you to expand your horizons?

A WOMAN AHEAD OF HER TIME

A marvelous, comprehensive biography of a remarkable woman who was pioneer in depth psychology and freedom from women to think for themselves and make their own choices, often in the face of tradition or convention.Ms. Livingstone made it clear that even though Lou Salome was influenced by greats like Freud and Rilke, she influenced them as much as they did her, and she was able to incorporate all she learned from them into her own passionate life-affirming philosophy. I highly recommend this fine work.
